Response to CN-01 Third Adequacy Issues - June 6, 2011
Response #18
Wildcat Mining has revised the minim plan to remove the 700 foot long pipeline Wildcat
Minim has also revised the tailings dewatering design to include a filter press and the
creation of dry tailings. The filter press will be located less than 50 feet from the mill
discharge point. Slurried tailings from the processing facilities will be conveyed via a dual
walled pipeline to the filter press where water will be recycled in dual walled pipe from the
filter press back to the processing facility.
Dry tailings will be transported to historical underground mine workings identified on
Figure D-111. See Attachment C The containment of process solutions containing DRMS
designated chemicals is presented in the Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) Exhibit U as
required by Rule 6.4.21(7)(e). See Attachment J
Adequacy Issue #19
Please clarify the statement appearing on page 3 of Attachment E- 1, Exhibit D, Mining Plan, of
the amended application,
"Dry stacked tailings disposal or submerged tailings will be implemented at the
May Day Idaho mine complex. (See Figure D-1 a for disposal site options.
Tailings (150-200 mesh grind) will be dewatered after the material is transported
to the approved disposal location. "
Specifically, please clarify the apparent definition of "tailings" as being limited to 150-200 mesh
size fractions. Please clarify the fate of tailing particles larger than 150 mesh and smaller than
200 mesh, if any.
Response #19
In response to Adequacy Issue #19, Wildcat Mining states that tailings are processed rock
that is crushed and floated. Wildcat Mining anticipates based on its proposed milling
operations that tailings will consist mainly of 150-200 mesh size fractions Any material
gangue that is not concentrated for further processing, regardless of size, will be dried
and disposed underground in the designated disposal area
Adequacy Issue #20
On pages 1 and 2 of Attachment E-1, Exhibit D, Mining Plan, and the application identifies three
staging areas. One of the staging areas, located adjacent to County Road 124, is shown on the
application maps. However, the other two staging areas are not shown on the application maps.
Please delineate and label the locations of all staging areas on the application maps. Please
identify all staging areas as affected lands in Exhibit A, Legal Description.
Revised
6/6/2011
18
