b) The font used for Haul Road stationing in the plan and profile views is too small.
Please increase the font size. It may be preferable to show the stationing only at
increments of 500 feet, and use tick-marks for the intermediate 100-foot stations.
Response - The stationing is revised to show in 500 foot increments.
c) One segment of the East Haul Road appears to have a grade of 12.41 %. The Rules
preclude the use of grades steeper than 10%. Please review the profile and revise
accordingly.
Response - The haul road has been redesigned. Asper DRMS regulations, it does not
show grades steeper than 10%.
d) The alignment shown for the West Haul Road appears to encroach upon the proposed
location of Pond NHN 002. Please review and revise as appropriate, in order to keep
the haul trucks out of the pond.
Response - The alignment has been revised to avoid encroaching on Pond NHN 002.
e) On the Haul Road profiles, please add the various culvert pipes in their respective
locations, and identify features such as Meehan Draw.
Response - The profiles have been revised to show the requested features.
f) The Typical Section depicts only the "fill" situation. Please modify the typical section
to also represent the "cut" situation.
Response - The revised Map 2.05.3(3)-2 now shows typical sections depicting both
"cuts" and "ills':
6. Please provide a Plan and Profile for the proposed Equipment Corridor. Although not a
Haul Road, per se, it will be used by various pieces of heavy equipment, and will cause
disturbance which will need to be reclaimed.
Response - Plan and profile for the proposed Equipment Corridor are now provided in
Map 2.05.3(3)-4.
2.05.3 4 - Ponds, impoundments, other treatment facilities and diversions
1. The Rules provide a clear distinction between "Mine facilities" (2.05.3(3)) and "Ponds,
impoundments, other treatment facilities and diversions" (2.05.3(4)). With the NHN
application, WFC has followed a flawed format previously established (for unknown
reasons) with the New Horizon Mine permit, wherein all facilities, including ponds, etc. are
presented in section 2.05.3(3). Over time, this format becomes a source of confusion and
congestion in the permit, especially in relation to the applicable Rules. Please separate out
those portions of the NHN PAP (those falling under Rule 2.05.3(4)) into a separate section
2.05.3(4) of the application, and re-number the text, attachments, and maps accordingly.
Response -A separate Section 2.05.3(4) Ponds, impoundments, other treatment facilities
and diversions is now included.
Response to First Adequacy Review Page 32
