The pond embankment was well grassed and appeared to be stable.The concrete open channel combination spillway was in place and was free of any blockage. The road culvert furthest to the east at the east mine area was functional.The road culvert further to the west was partially blocked at the inlet,due to the adjacent mud slide.The riprapped channel below each road culvert was in place and had sufficient capacity. The riverside berm was in place as well. Oxbow has finished clearing the road of soil material caused by a natural slide north of the road. Oxbow uses this road as their back door access to their Elk Creek Mine.However, in taking down the slide material from the hillside,the road was raised a few feet so that vehicle access to the Hawks Nest west mine is no longer possible. Access to the decommissioned DMEA substation also is blocked.Access by foot is not a problem,however.
