Pirieda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article <br />33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 20, 2011, an application to <br />renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Edna Strip Mine was considered complete <br />for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining <br />Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Chevron Mining, Inc. has applied for a permit renewal (RN6) for the Edna Mine. The mine is a reclaimed <br />surface mine on land located approximately 5 miles Northwest of Oak Creek, Colorado. The pennittee has <br />previously applied for final (Phase III) bond release for the remaining portions of the mine. No additional <br />mining is proposed for this permit term. The applicant is only proposing maintaining the current <br />reclamation. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />T5N, R85W, Portions of Sections 31, 32 <br />T5N, R86W, Portions of Section 36 <br />T4N, R86W, Portions of Sections 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25 <br />T4N, R85W, Portions of Sections 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 29, 30 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Oak Creek, <br />Rattlesnake Butte, and Cow Camp. <br />No additional surface disturbance is proposed as a result of this revision application. As a result, the <br />Division does not anticipate additional impacts to wildlife. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in the Steamboat Pilot that this permit renewal application has <br />been deemed complete. At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to <br />Office of Office of <br />Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
