<br />Dear Sir or Madam:
<br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33,
<br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 20, 2011, an application to renew an
<br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Edna Strip Mine was considered complete for the
<br />purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act
<br />and the Rules initiate from this date of filing.
<br />Chevron Mining, Inc. has applied for a permit renewal (RN6) for the Edna Mine. The mine is a reclaimed surface
<br />mine on land located approximately 5 miles Northwest of Oak Creek, Colorado. The permittee has previously
<br />applied for final (Phase 111) bond release for the remaining portions of the mine. No additional mining is proposed
<br />for this permit term. The applicant is only proposing maintaining the current reclamation. The permit area is
<br />further described as follows:
<br />T5N, R85W, Portions of Sections 31, 32
<br />T5N, R86W, Portions of Section 36
<br />T4N, R86W, Portions of Sections 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25
<br />T4N, R85W, Portions of Sections 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 29, 30
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Oak Creek, Rattlesnake
<br />Butte, and Cow Camp.
<br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Routt County Clerk and Recorder, 136
<br />6th Street, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and at the Division office. For additional information, to provide
<br />written comments, or request an informal conference, contact the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
<br />Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567, within thirty (30) days after the last
<br />public notice in the Steamboat Pilot.
