3. The Wedge Trail starts at the fork of the Klondike trail (See Plate 2). It continues through USFS
land and patented claims for 2500 ft to the BLMC patented Wedge claim. This road will NOT be
significantly improved. There will be no realignment, widening, or gradient reduction. The only
work planned will be some smoothing, down sloping to improve drainage, and some as yet
undefined work at drainages crossing the road, (the USFS did not recommend culverts, but will
specify another form of erosion protection). This trail will not be reclaimed as it provides access
to several patented mining claims.
4. A NEW road is planned to be constructed entirely on BLMC patented claims which start at the
Wedge trail (Plate 3) and continue to the Klondike adit, which is accessible from the Klondike
trail. This new access road will provide year around access to the Klondike, Homestake and
Crown Point patented claims of BLMC. During non-snow months it provides a secondary escape
route in case of fires or other emergencies. This road will be constructed to minimize steep
grades and drainage protection (per USFS specifications) will be applied at appropriate
drainage crossings. The road will be 10 ft wide by 700 ft length fora total disturbance of 7000
sq. ft. This road will not be reclaimed.
5. Each trench will be 300 ft long, 3 ft wide, with a 3 ft soil and rock storage area, and additional 10
ft road access for excavator and reclamation. 16 ft x 300 ft =4800 sq ft of disturbance for each
trench. Three trenches are planned for a total disturbance of 14,400 sq ft.
6. Two drill pads are planned on already disturbed ground at the Klondike adit on BLMC patented
claims. Access is by existing roads. Each pad is 40 ft x 40 ft =1600 sq ft. two drill pads -= 3200 sq
ft. of disturbance. There are no plans to reclaim this ground as it is on an existing mine dump.
7. TOTAL Disturbance
a. New access road=7,000 sq ft
b. Homestake adit trail= 7,500 sq ft
c. Trenches=14,400 sq ft.
d. Drill pads= 3,200 sq ft
e. TOTAL DISTURBANCE= 32,100 sq. ft, / 43,560 sq ft/ acre= 0.74 acre
Excavation and Disposal of Muck
1. The NOI form did not provide for insertion of units. The unit is 50 cu. yds.
