For example, there were 40 days in 1977 <br />(historically a dry Year) when diversions would not have been <br />. <br />allowed,'one in the winter and 39 in the summer. Prospective <br />contractors should be cognizant that low stream flows may <br />restrict daily diversion, and should be required to submit their <br />water use and storage plan as part of the technical proposal. <br />F. PREVIOUS BORROW ACTIVITIES <br />The existing gravel pit (Wheeler Pit) occupies approximately the <br />northern one quarter of Borrow Area B as shown on. Drawing No. <br />69-406-1921. This pit was developed by Nielsons Inc., <br />sub-contractor to M. K. Ferguson, the remedial action contractor <br />for the Durango UMTRA (Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action <br />Project) site. The contractor will be <br />responsible to construct and maintain the necessary water <br />conveyance system to convey this water from the Animas River <br />diversion (elevation 6340) to Borrow Area B and the dam site <br />(maximum elevation 6700). The contractor will be required to <br />borrow area and construction access road take lines.
