. Area B for the entire construction period and will also.be used
by the Stage II contractor. In the event Stage I construction
.begins before the completion of the construction access road, the
dam contractor will be allowed to temporarily use County Road 211
and the existing haul road through Ridges Basin. Upon completion
of the construction access road, the contractor shall be required
to use County Road 213 and construction access road for
construction and employee access.
The Animas Air Park airstrip is located approximately 350 feet
from the eastern edge of Borrow Area B. Federal Aviation
Administration regulations that apply to construction activities
near airstrips are available at the Durango Projects Office. It
is not anticipated that these regulations will significantly
_ impact the contractor's Borrow Area B operations. U.S. West
communications connections at the Animas Air. Park area are
currently available. La Plata Electric Association serves Animas
Air Park. The contractor will need to make arrangements with
U.S. West Communications and La Plata Electric Association for
connections and service line extensions.
The northern boundary for the borrow area was established by an
existing utility easement for two natural gas pipelines.
Northwest Pipeline Corporation's (NWP) is a 26-inch-diameter
natural gas pipeline and Mid-America Pipeline Company's (MAPCO)
is a 10-inch-diameter natural gas liquid product pipeline. The
NWP pipeline is the closest to the borrow area and parallels the
boundary at a distance of 75 feet. In order to ensure that the
integrity of these pipelines is maintained, all borrow area
• excavation adjacent to the pipeline easements will be restricted
to a maximum slope of 1-1/2:1.
i 8
e t inuche Construction ANimAs 6LRcietzGe EL.
t_ .# ;k ?'?c u r l? tT T P ?
