UA - Onshore Gas Number: CO-HSE-032
HSE Procedure Custodian: Colorado Operations
Spill Prevention, Control and Revision: 0
Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan Effective: January 2012
18.0 PROSPECTING (MINING) DRILLING
and WORKOVER FACILITIES
Due to the nature of the operations, a Blow Out Preventer (BOP) will not be required on any of
the East RDD Project wells.
All drilling vehicles and auxiliary equipment positioned or parked at any drill site shall be within
secondary containment or over an impervious barrier when containers exist with a shell capacity
of 55 gallons or more.
Drill pads located at the East RDD site will be constructed with either
• one diversionary ditch on the downhill side of the pad at the periphery leading to a
catchment basin (pit), OR
• a lip or berm on the downhill side of the pad at the periphery (e.g. 6-12 inches), OR
• the entire pad surface is sloped inwards so no spilled fluids can leave the site, including a
sloped access road to prevent any oily fluids spilled from leaving the pad area.
Refueling vehicles will be equipped with a portable drip pan for use during all hydrocarbon
transfers and while the vehicle is not in use. All other hydrocarbon transfers with fixed pipe will
also be within secondary containment or over an impervious barrier.
Stationary fuel tanks or other hydrocarbon containers with a shell capacity of 55 gallons or more
will be stored within appropriate secondary containment, or over an impervious barrier.
Generators containing 55 gallons or more of fuel will also be positioned over an impervious
barrier.
A spill clean-up kit will be available onsite for each drilling rig during drilling and workover
operations.
Printed: April 7, 2011 Section 18 Page 51 of 71
The controlled version of this "controlling document" resides online in Livelink®. Printed copies are UNCONTROLLED.
