UA - Onshore Gas Number: CO-HSE-032
HSE Procedure Custodian: Colorado Operations
Spill Prevention, Control and Revision: 0
Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan Effective: January 2012
13.0 FACILITY BULK STORAGE CONTAINERS
13.1 Tank Design, Construction & Operation
The East RDD Project's produced water and oil storage tanks will be designed in accordance
with industry standards. The tanks will have the following design characteristics:
• The site will have above ground tanks for storage of produced water and oil, to be located
within a tank battery. These tanks will be stored within secondary containment. No
more than three tanks will be operated in an interconnected manner (i.e. lined up, with
valves open or equalized).
• The tanks will be constructed of a material that is compatible with the produced water,
oil and oil products to be stored and the conditions of storage.
• Tanks will be operated within "Safe Fill" levels positioned below tank capacity limits.
• Tanks will be operated under a nitrogen blanket regulated with a back-pressure controller
which relieves to an atmospheric vent system away from the main facility.
• The tanks will be protected from over-pressure with a pressure relief device on each tank
vented to atmosphere.
• The tanks will also be protected against collapse due to vacuum using a vacuum relief
device on each tank.
• High-level alarms will be installed on all of the storage tanks.
• Visible oil leaks which result in a loss of oil from tank seams, gaskets and bolts
sufficiently large enough to cause the accumulation of oil in containment areas will be
promptly corrected.
Continued on next page
Printed: April 7, 2011 F Section 13 Page 41 of 71
The controlled version of this "controlling document" resides online in Livelink®.
