Third Adequacy Letter, Amended CN-01 4
May Day Idaho Mine Complex
6. Thank you for the topographic lines provided on Figure'C-3, Topography: July, 2010.
Additionally, the color and pattern of line used to delineate the affected land boundary
and the permit boundary are sufficiently different to clearly identify the separate
boundaries. However, like many maps of the application, Figure C-3 utilized an air
photo as a base layer for the map. The details of the air photo interfere with the details
provided by the contour lines and elevation numbers. Please eliminate the air photo
layer for Figure C-3 to allow clarity in reading the superior detail provided by the
contour lines. Please ensure the revised Figure C-3 includes all affected lands within the
permit boundary and boundary of affected lands.
7. The details of Figure C-7, Man-Made Structures, are difficult to read due to the
inappropriate scale (1 inch = 833 feet) resulting from reduction of the map. Figure C-7
fails to include all affected lands within the permit boundary and boundary of affected
lands. The color and pattern of line used to delineate the affected land boundary and
the permit boundary are sufficiently similar to confuse the two boundaries. Figure C-7
incorrectly indicates two mill facilities on site, one at the Idaho and the second at May
Day 1 area. Please submit a new Figure C-7, which corrects these inadequacies.
8. Thank you for the topographic lines provided on Figure SWMP-2, Surface Drainage Basin
Delineation. Please eliminate the air photo layer for Figure SWMP-2 to allow clarity in
reading the superior detail provided by the contour lines. Please ensure the revised
Figure SWMP-2 delineates and labels the amended permit boundary and includes all
affected lands within the affected land boundary. Figure SWMP-2 inappropriately
shows two augmentation ponds, one of which is located outside of the affected land
boundary. Figure SWMP-2 inappropriately locates the mill at the Idaho rather than at
May Day 1 level. Please submit a revised Figure SWMP-2, which corrects these
inadequacies.
9. The application for the amended CN-01 included the following reclamation maps:
• Figure F-1, May Day No. 1 Post Mine Topography
• Figure F-3, May Day No. 2 Post Mine Topography
• Figure F-4, Pay Day and Idaho Mill Post Mine Topography
• Figure F-4A, Pay Day and Idaho Mill Post Mine Topography Ore Stockpile
• Figure F-4, May Day No. 3 Post Mine Topography
• Figure F-5a, Chief Portal Post Mine Topography
The six reclamation maps submitted with the amended application address
approximately 41% of the area addressed by the reclamation plan. Approximately 59%
of the area addressed by the reclamation plan is not supported by reclamation maps.
Please provide reclamation maps, which satisfy the requirements of Rules 6.2.1(2) and
6.4.6, for the following affected lands:
0 May Day 1 East - 0.5 acres
