Memo to Wally Erickson 2 April 28, 2011
Wildcat CN O1 Geotechnical Adequacy Response Review File No. M-1981-185
Response to CN-01 Preliminary Adequacy Issues for a 112d-1 Application, CN-01, Wildcat Mining
Corporation May Day Idaho Mine Complex File No. M-1981-185. Geotechnical Response
6. As mentioned in Question #4 above, the Applicant states this letter is an access road adequacy
letter response. The content of the letter discusses the requirements for Rule 6.5 and
references the engineering reports by Sakura and R Squared, but does not address the
outstanding access road adequacy issues or the outstanding adequacy questions for the
Sakura and R Squared reports. Please respond to the access road adequacy questions from
the March 7, 2011 memorandum and memos written by Allen Sorenson.
7. On page 2 in the New Access Road-road stability including cut slope section, the Applicant
states a geotechnical reconnaissance report as outlined in a May 29, 2010 memo (Attachment
D) are adopted by reference. Attachment D submitted in the most recent adequacy response
(April 18, 2011) is labeled "Exhibit A - Legal Description" and does not discuss the access road.
Please clarify what May 29, 2010 memo the Applicant is referring to and explain the "adopted
by reference" comment.
8. If the Applicant intended to refer the Division to the R Squared report dated May 29, 2010 in
Question #7 above, please respond to questions #24 through #27 from the March 7, 2011
memorandum.
9. On page 2 in the New Access Road-road stability including cut slope section, the Applicant
states the road construction work plan is presented in Mine Plan Road Exhibit D. Exhibit D
Mine Plan (Attachment E-1) does not contain a road construction work plan and instead
references Exhibit 6.5 - Geotechnical Stability as the location of the work plan. Please explain
this discrepancy.
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan (Attachment E-2)
10. On page 4 in the Access Easement Closure section, the Applicant states excavated excess
material will be used to blend the topography of the temporary access road to approximate
original contour (Exhibit 6.5). Exhibit 6.5 does not discuss reclamation of the access road.
Please explain this discrepancy and provide pre-construction and post-construction contour
maps for the access road.
11. On page 4 in the Access Easement Closure section, the Applicant states the access road
reclamation area will have a side slope not exceeding 1.5(H):1(V) with the exception of the cut
slope which will remain at a slope of approximately 0.7:1. The Applicant did not respond to
Question #4 from the March 7, 2011 memorandum which previously addressed the required
slope at the cut slope section. Please respond to the question and revise the reclamation plan
accordingly.
