Page 2
In order for this office to accept a bond provided by the prospector for this project, the prospector must register with
the Colorado Secretary of State's Business Section, and obtain a "certificate of good standing" as a company licensed
to do business in the state. Please provide the prospector's business ID number or a copy of the certificate of good
standing issued by the Secretary of State. If the prospector has not already registered, please go to this website:
h"://www.sos.state.co.us/biz/BusinessEntityCriteriaExt.do. Please ensure that the registered name matches exactly
the prospector's company name in the NOI. After this has been completed, please provide either the ID number or
certificate to this office.
Based on the plan as presented in the NOI and in follow-up correspondence, this office has estimated the reclamation
costs. The estimated bond amount is $2,552, as shown on the enclosed packet. Probable reclamation tasks include
removal and disposal of some debris, minor pad shaping for drainage, and mobilization of equipment to the site.
There is no task related to portal closure, which assumes (and requires) that a lockable steel door be maintained and
utilized upon termination. There is no task related to road reclamation either, which assumes that no significant
improvements will be made to the existing access road. Bonding related to general road use, possibly to be required
by the USFS, is beyond our jurisdiction and we are prevented from including it in the DRMS bond. There is no task
related to topsoil or revegetation. Please notify me if there are errors to this estimate. If the project is modified, the
bond amount will be reviewed.
Please provide the requested items at your earliest convenience. There should be two complete sets of all materials,
and they may be sent directly to me at the Division's Durango field office: 691 CR 233, Room A-2, Durango, CO
81301. Tel: 970-247-5193.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Enclosure: Bond estimate.
Ec(w/o encl): Steve Shuey, DRMS, Grand Junction
Cc(w/encl): Kenneth Orvis, The Mining Company, Inc., 21599 US Hwy 550, Ridgway, CO 81432
Liz Mauch, USFS, 2505 S.
