April 27, 2011 C-1996-083Bowie No. 2 Mine JJD <br />REVEGETATION - Rule 4.15 ? ? Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br />The revegetated outslopes of the mine benches had a good grass cover, which was helping to control <br />erosion. There was a good vegetative cover on the outslopes of the unit train loadout bench as well. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />The general area has been receiving a lot of snow and rain lately. Most of the mine site was saturated with <br />moisture. <br />There were no problems with the coal handing facilities and coal transport conveyors at the main mine site. The <br />wildlife crossing over the downhill conveyor was in place. Material storage areas were well organized. There were <br />no leaks at the fuel facility. A unit train was at the loadout, waiting for transport. There were no problems with the <br />coal loading system. <br />The operator is dismantling the facilities structures at the Hubbard Creek fan site. There had been recent vandalism <br />at this site where copper was stolen and significant damage had been done to the electrical control system. <br />The mine site benches appeared to be stable. There were no indications of slope instability with the cut and fill <br />slopes. The highwalls above the D-seam portal bench, B-seam portal bench and behind the wash plant were stable. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS - Rule 4.02: <br />The mine identification sign was up at the main entrance to the mine. The required information was on the <br />sign. Mine identification signs were also up at the entrance to the unit train loadout and at the Hubbard Creek fan <br />site. Additional mine id signs were up along the main road and along the Hubbard Creek road where the permit <br />boundary crosses the public roads. <br />TOPSOIL - Rule 4.060 ?Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; <br />Redistribution 4.06.4: <br />There was a very good cover of grass on the main topsoil stockpile.
