April 25, 2011 C-1980-001/Edna Strip Mine JHB
ROADS - Rule 4.03Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) ? ? Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and
(6)? ?Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
Two access roads remain providing access from the Routt County Road 27 or Routt County Road 179. A large
snowdrift has been plowed in front of the access road from RCR 27. The inspector was unable to access the mine
property from this southern route. Large snow drifts remain along this narrow roadway making snowshoeing
treacherous. The inspector attempted to snowshoe up the North Access road. Approximately 8" to 24" drifts of
snow remain on the north access road. A pair of cat track, one medium (3 ``/z" diameter) and a smaller set (2"
diameter) were followed for a while up the road. Snow was soft an slushy making progress difficult. A snow
squall moved in again as the inspector was attempting to walk in on snowshoes, making visibility difficult.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The majority of the snow has melted off the reclaimation, though considerable snow cover remains on the West
Ridge (South end) of the reclaimed area. Vegetation has not really greened up yet and temperatures are still
dropping below or near freezing at night. Higher elevations of the mine still have large patches of snow.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: NA
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 3 of 6
