The weather was alternating between
cloudy and foggy, to snowing hard and windy. Snow squalls were moving through in about 20 minute
intervals. Temperatures were above freezing and snowpack was melting off. Area rivers and creeks were
running full and muddy typical of Spring runoff conditions.
The mine site is a reclaimed surface mine. Load out facilities have previously receive final bond release.
Facilities at the top of the ridge on the mine site have been approved to remain as permanent features. The
remaining property is currently under evaluation for final bond release. No personnel remain on the mine
site.
FISH and WILDLIFE - Rule 4.18:
Cat tracks were observed heading up the north access road. Tracks were relatively fresh, likely within the day, but
had 1/4" of fresh snow from Monday's snow squalls. There were 2 sets of tracks, one small, about2" diameter and
the other larger. about 3 1/2" diameter footprints. No cats, bobcat or Mountain lion were seen, but tracks were
fairly recent.
Waterfowl, primarily ducks, were noted on the site. A Redtail hawk was hunting near the north access gate.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 ? ? Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6; Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9;
Snowpack is melting off throughout the mine site. Snow drifts are still deep at the top of the reclaimed mine, on the
access roads, and across the West Pit. Snow is patchy on the lower elevation slopes. The inspector was unable to
access the sediment ponds due to snowdrifts blocking the access roads. Even travel on snowshoes was limited due
to the slushy, snowing, windy conditions. Drainages appeared intact. No gullies were visible from a distance.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 6
