Colowyo, C1981-019, PR3 adequacy No. 2
April 22, 2011
3. Table 2.04.7-44 lists registered wells in the proposed permit and adjacent area. Map 11B
shows all drill holes and wells in the permit and adjacent area, with the wells identified by the
well permit number listed in the table. Many inaccuracies were noted, however, including
wells not on the map, or not on the map in the location as stated in the table, as noted below:
• #2231 Elton not shown on Map II B
• #175219 Dudek not on Map I IB
• #81006 Avgares Deno not on Map 11 B
• #211362 Ricks not on Map 11B
• #237612 Plumb not on Map11B.
Please correct the map and/or the table to accurately identify all wells not owned by Colowyo
or affiliates of Colowyo. The Division suggests creating a second map showing only wells
(drill holes excluded) and clearly indicating those wells not owned by Colowyo. Many of these
wells owned by others are in close proximity to proposed operations in Collom. Please see
Rule 2.04.7(1)(a)(iv) and (b) for specific well information requirements.
CCC has provided locations on Map 11 C as requested. Please indicate where in the permit text
narrative the Division can find the references to Colowyo's ownership of wells within the
permit boundary, in particular those owned by others as identified in Table 2.04.7-44.
Specifically, wells permitted to Dudek and Sweeney are of concern. These wells are in
relatively close proximity to the Collom pit. If the permit text narrative does not exist, please
add it to the appropriate section. Permit text narrative on page 133 states "Some of these wells
may be registered to Utah International or other names but these are all under the control of
Colowyo." Please provide evidence that demonstrates Colowyo owns wells, or controls wells
owned by others, and specifically identify that ownership or control in Table 2.04.7-44.
Rule 2.04.7(1) Groundwater Information
1. Please add a notation to Table 2.04.7-42 explaining the meaning of the abbreviation "ND".
Response is adequate.
2. The groundwater lab parameter table in Section 4.05.13 indicates several metals will be
analyzed for the "total dissolved" concentration, rather than the "dissolved" concentration.
When analyzing a sample for the "total dissolved" concentration, will particulates of the
constituent be removed from the sample before performing the analysis?
Response is adequate.
