File No. M-1981-185
underground disposal option, the operator should commence the test as soon as possible. The
Division will not allow any permanent underground disposal of tailings until at least one year's
worth of data have been produced from the humidity cell test.
The following table provides the humidity test protocols for analytes and frequency of analyses.
The operator must refer to ASMT method D5744-07 for the required testing methodology. As
this is a standardized ASTM test, there are certified laboratories available that have the capability
and expertise to conduct this type of test.
While Wildcat Mining will commit to conducting a humidity cell test (ASTM D-5744-7),
Wildcat Mining respectfully submits the need to prevent disposal of tailings underground
based on readily available whole rock and water quality (including the fact historical
mining activities have not adversely impacted water) is not technically iustified. See
Exhibit T (Environmental Protection Plan) for supporting information. Within 60 days
and as approved by DRMS, Wildcat Mining will initiate the humidity cell test.
Adequacy Issue #19
Attachment T-5, Surface Water Sampling Results. The Applicant should make the following
revisions to the surface water sampling and monitoring plan:
1 - Add to dissolved analyte list: Aluminum, Iron
2 - Add to total recoverable analyte list:
A - Molybdenum
B - Cyanide (the WQCC regulations are in terms of free cyanide, but the operator may
analyze for WAD cyanide if they choose.)
C - Total organic carbon
3 - Switch from dissolved to total recoverable: Barium, Beryllium, Boron
Response #19
The requested analytes will be added to the surface and to any future groundwater
monitoring plan The analvtes will be added to the fifth sampling event which will occur in
May 2011.
