Response to Geochemistry Review - May Day Conversion CN-1
File No. M-1981-185
Response #2
Solid waste will be limited to mill and mine demolition debris. No liquids or biodegradable
(perishable) materials will be disposed underground.
Adequacy Issue #3
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 6.4.5(2)(c), item 2, page 6: The Applicant states that run of
mine rock will be placed underground or adjacent to existing benches, and will be stable without
additional compaction. Be advised that any material left outside in the elements for extended
periods will need to undergo geochemical testing.
Response #3
Wildcat Mining has committed to sampling and geochemically analyzing run of mine rock
on a routine basis The company commits to performing Acid Base Accounting (ABA) tests
on every 5,000 tons mined In addition Wildcat Mining has committed to performing
humidity cell tests as outlined in this adequacy response. (See Response #18).
Adequacy Issue #4
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 6.4.5(2)(c), item 2, page 6: The Applicant states that best
management practices will be put in place to prevent toxic or acid-forming materials migrating
offsite. Please describe the BMPs or state where in the application the information may be found.
Response #4
Routine eochemical run of mine rock ABA and metal tests will be conducted on a routine
basis to identify materials which could be toxic or acid producing. In the event materials
are considered toxic or acid forming, the materials will be appropriately encased
underground and or in an approved environment to prevent impacts to environmental
resources.
Adequacy Issue #5
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 3.1.7(2)(c)(ii), page 7. Please describe how ambient
groundwater quality will be determined.
Response #5
Ambient groundwater data will be collected from the point of compliance which is the
proposed groundwater production well (May Day No. 1 bench) or the base of the dry stack
tailings pile In addition, Wildcat Mining proposes to drill a monitoring well north of the
Idaho spring and a second monitoring well on May Day No. 2 bench. The wells are located
to determine the depth to groundwater and to obtain a sample to benchmark groundwater
May Day Idaho Mine Complex I I2(d) Permit Application
Revised: April 14, 2011
2
