Pirieda
3607 County Road 65 Director
Rangely, CO 81648
Re: Deserado Mine C-1981-018
Technical Revision 68 Preliminary Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Wanstedt:
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) has received the
Blue Mountain Energy, Inc (BME) submittal of Technical Revision 68 (TR-68) for the
Deserado Mine. The revision was received on 16 February 2011 and deemed complete
on 25 February 2011. The Division has reviewed the submittal and has the following
adequacy questions and comments.
Rule 2.03.10 - Identification of other Licenses and Permits
BME has included a new copy of Colorado Discharge Permit CO-0038024 for
placement in Illustration 46. The new permit includes outfall 029, which is the
outfall from the Last Chance Pond to the unnamed wash. BME is reminded that
once the B-Seam dewatering system has been constructed, the sampling and
reporting requirements for this pond will need to be initiated. Additionally, all
water monitoring data will need to be forwarded to the Division in the quarterly
discharge monitoring reports as well as the Annual Hydrology Report.
Rule 2.05.3 - Operations and Reclamation Plan
2. BME has provided revised page V-24, which includes Table V-3 - Summary of
Disturbed Areas. This table includes the B-Seam dewatering system disturbance.
BME has included this acreage to the line that formerly listed the disturbance for
Service Hole 3 (SH-3). SH-3 is the dewatering hole for the B-Seam dewatering
system and is included in this disturbance. To avoid any confusion, however, the
Division requests that BME include SH-3 in the description for the B-Seam
dewatering system disturbance (for example, B-Seam Dewatering System/SH-3).
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand )unction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
