RECLAMATION PLAN
1. General Reclamation Plan
EXHIBIT E
The total area of the permit is 153.04 acres. The permit has both disturbed area (125.77 acres)
and undisturbed area (27.27 acres). The access road is to be left in place for access to the site.
The reclaimed land use is shown in Table E-1. This site will present a challenge for reclamation.
there is very little topsoil available for reclamation and the climate for the area does not produce
large percentages of ground cover without irrigation. Additionally, the gravel resource lies
directly on top of sandstone bedrock which prevents root growth. Therefore, an innovative
approach to reclamation will be required at this site.
Table E-1 Craig Ranch Pit Reclamation Land Use
Land Use Area acres
Reclaimed Rangeland 39.85
Exposed Sandstone 82.88
Sediment Ponds 247
Access Road 0.57
Undisturbed Area 27.27
Total 153.04
Reclamation will be conducted as new areas are disturbed throughout the year. This will most
likely happen in small increments a few times per year, with the limited topsoil, waste fines and
overburden being placed in the previously excavated areas of the pit. See Map F for details. This
will also help reduce the exposed land area which will reduce the reclamation bond. Overburden
is expected to vary between 0'-9' and will be used to create islands of thick growth medium.
Craig Ranch Pit, March 2011 E-1
