The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming areas as additional
mining is undertaken. This table is based on a reasonable projection of average production rates.
The table shows that mining and reclamation will occur approximately 20 years and the total
gravel mined will be approximately 1,800,000 tons. This is based on computer grids generated
from the topography and the available exploration data.
3. Mine Facilities and Operation
The facilities on site will be the crushing/screening plant, portable asphalt plant, the washing
equipment, portable office trailer, and a truck scale. The crusher / screen and wash plant will be
mobile and will be moved to and from this site each year. The asphalt plant will be moved to and
from the site as needed for local paving jobs. Waste asphalt will be stored next to the asphalt
plant and will be recycled into the plant as needed. All asphalt waste will be removed from the
site when the asphalt plant is removed. The equipment will be located in Mining Area 1 (see
map C-2). Fuel for the operation will come from the fuel tank associated with the individual
crushers, wash plant and asphalt plant. During times that a plant is not located on site, fuel will
be provided a fuel tank that has adequate secondary containment. The fuel tank will also be
located within Mining Area 1.
Water will be used to control dust on the haul roads and also on the crushing, screening and
washing operations. All water used at the site will be stored in the wash ponds. A water right for
3 million gallons per year is included in Exhibit G. The wash plant will be brought to the site
periodically to wash material and create stockpiles. Water consumption calculations are shown in
Appendix B.
Maintenance vehicles will visit the site regularly to provide oil, grease, and perform other minor
maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Any major repair work required will be performed off
site or during normal operating hours. The truck scale of approximately 20' x 70' size is also
installed within the permit boundary. See Map C-2 for the location of the truck scales.
Craig Ranch Pit, March 2011 D-3
