CM0001677
2.1.2 Laboratory QC Procedures
The laboratory QC procedures completed for samples submitted under this SAP will follow the QC
protocols outlined in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Contract Laboratory Program
(CLP) standards (EPA, 1989). The specific precision and accuracy objectives will be those
established for the EPA CLP (EPA, 1989). Table 3 summarizes the laboratory QC limits.
Laboratory QC procedures for each analytical method used will be met and reported by the labora-
tory for sampling events conducted as part of this SAP. A M CLP-compatible deliverable includ-
ing all raw data will be available, if required Laboratory QC samples will include a combination of
the following samples defined below.
2.1.21 Laboratory Control Sample
A Laboratory Control Sample (LCS) is a sample of known composition containing the
compound(s) representative of the target analytes and is used to document method performance.
21.2.2 Preparatory Blank
A preparatory blank is an analytical control sample prepared from laboratory-grade DS/DI water to
which all reagents are added in the same volumes or proportions as used in sample processing. The
preparatory blank should be carried through the complete sample preparation and analytical
procedure. This blank is useful in documenting contamination resulting from the analytical process.
Z 1.2.3 Matrix Spike
A matrix spike is prepared in the laboratory and is an aliquot of sample spiked with a known
concentration of target analyte(s). The spiking occurs prior to sample preparation and analysis. A
matrix spike is used to document the bias of a method in a given sample matrix.
2.1.2.4 Matrix Spike Duplicate
Page 6
•
•
A matrix spike duplicate is an intralaboratory split of a sample that has been spiked with a known
concentration of target analyte(s). The spiking occurs prior to sample preparation and analysis.
The matrix spike duplicates are used to document the precision of a method in a given sample
matrix.
C02073
•
PRIVILEGED AND CONFIDENTIAL ' k====
-' - - - -- CvlloJEC1'sKIo:-ao1u? 1:61o2 001(6120M61 .Environmental
