• (using the reverse null hypothesis, stated as Ho: p<_ Q) was made in the following form to test the
hypothesis of reclamation success for cover (CDMG 2005 revised rule, 4.15.11 (2)(b)):
t _Q-x
S_
x
Where: x = Bond Release Block Sample Mean
Q = 90% of Standard
S_ = Standard error of mean [s l,Fn ]
X
S = Sample standard deviation
n = Sample size
tc = Calculated t value
tt = Table t value (alpha = 0.1) see Rohlf and Sokal 1969
The (traditional) null hypothesis being tested was that the bond release block mean (µ) was
statistically indistinguishable from 90% of the standard, stated as Ho: g >_ Q. If the absolute value
• of tc was less than or equal to the one-tailed t table value for alpha error probability of 0.10, at (n-
1) degrees of freedom, then Ho was not rejected, and revegetation was deemed successful.
Climatic Data
SCC has historically provided precipitation data for the Seneca II and IIW Mines. As in previous
years, precipitation data from the Seneca IIW mine were used in 2010. Since the long-term
average for the mine exists for only 25 years, the long-term average monthly precipitation data
from the NOAA administered Western Regional Climate Center (WRCC) for the nearby town of
Hayden (Station 053867) were used as an appropriate base for comparison. SCC also provided
temperature data for the nearby Seneca IIW Mine in 2010; however, for temperature analysis on
the Seneca II Mine, temperature data from the Hayden station have been used since 2005 and
were again used in 2010.
RESULTS
Numerical data are found in Tables 1 through 7 of Appendix 1. Sample data from the 2010
revegetation monitoring studies at the Peabody Sage Creek Mine are presented in Tables 1
through 3. Sampling data are summarized in Table 4. Data on species density by lifeform are
tabulated for sampled areas in Table 5. Data on relative cover by lifeform are compiled in Table 6.
Statistical adequacy of sampling is reviewed in Table 7. The list of plant species observed during
0 7
