The Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine (Climax) (Highway 91, Fremont Pass, Climax
Colorado, 80429) submitted an application to the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board (MLRB)
on May 7, 2010 for an amendment (AM-06) to its to its Regular (112d) Designated Mining Operation
Reclamation Permit (M-1977-493) under provisions of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act.
After the original May 7, 2010 submittal, Climax identified a need to modify the amendment
application. On August 10, 2010, Climax submitted the application modifications to the MLRB.
The Climax Mine, located near Section 12, Township 8, Range 79, 6'h Prime Meridian, is an active
operation and CIVIC has been conducting planning and permitting activities to enable the mine to
operate in response to demand for molybdenum concentrate, along with continuing reclamation
activities. CIVIC plans to resume production at the existing open pit and process molybdenum ore
within updated and improved mineral processing facilities.
The purpose of this amendment is to increase the acreage of affected land and provide updated
information, based on the current status of planning and engineering activities, to ensure the permit
documentation contains all required and relevant information needed to attain continued exceptional
performance in reclamation of non-essential facilities and assure compliance during ongoing
maintenance, pending construction and future production operations. The proposed post-mining land
use at the Climax site remains unchanged, and consists of Rangeland, Developed Water Resources,
Recreation, and Industrial / Commercial.

Comments must be in writing and must be received by the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety by 4:00 p.m on the 20th day following the September 24, 2010 publication of this Public Notice
in the Summit County Journal.
