STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
DATE: April 5, 2011
TO: Jim Stark
COLORADO
D I V I S I ON OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
FROM: Joe Dudash }I-'1
RE: Terror Creek L adout, Permit No. C-1983-059, Terror Creek LLC
MT-6, Midterm Review, Additional information for Adequacy Review
As part of the 2011 Midterm Review, Terror Creek LLC has provided additional information for
the Division's reclamation cost estimate. With this additional information, I am requesting your
assistance in the review of the reclamation cost estimate for the Terror Creek Loadout.
At the Division's request, the operator has provided a list of storage tanks on site. The list is on
revised page 2.05-2c, which is attached to this memo. Also attached to this memo is approved
page 2.05-2b, which has the currently approved list of storage tanks. It should be noted that the
10,000 gallon diesel storage tank is owned by a contractor who is leasing out the shop. The
operator retains liability for the shop but I don't know about the diesel tank and how this affects
the Division's cost estimate. The last paragraph on revised page 2.05-2b, which is also attached,
explains this arrangement.
Also, there is a bar gate on a swivel post at the main entrance and a tubular pipe fence gate at the
east entrance. I don't think they are included in the current cost estimate. In addition, the
operator had placed large rocks along a portion of the east permit boundary near the east gate to
block access to the site. I don't know if these items are insignificant as far as the cost estimate is
concerned. I may have photos of these items if you need them.
I would appreciate receiving your review memo by Thursday, April 21, 2011. If you have any
questions or need additional information, please let me know. Thanks for your assistance.
Attachments
c:/word2007/terror/mt6memo2
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand )unction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
