Compliance With Mine Plan R - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> R -Other NA - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> R -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a partial inspection conducted by Janet Binns of CDRMS. The weather was cool and slightly breezy and <br /> dry. The mine site and load out areas were both very dry. The mine is in permanent cessation and no mine <br /> personnel remain on the site. The Southfield Mine was is an reclaimed underground mine, with an inactive <br /> loadout located west of the town of Florence, along with reclaimed portal, facilities area,vent fan, and refuse pile <br /> located South of the town of Florence. <br /> FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18: <br /> A Prairie falcon was observed hunting over the Reclaimed mine area during the inspection. A pair of red-tailed <br /> hawks appear to be establishing a nest just north of the load out site in a cottonwood tree along Chandler creek. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05 <br /> Both ponds; L 1 and L2,at the load out were dry and in good repair. The trash in pond L2,noted in the February <br /> inspection,has been removed. Both ponds at the mine site are dry as well. All four ponds appear to be in good <br /> condition with no concerns noted. <br /> SAE's at the loadout are well vegetated or adjacent to the railroad tracks. Load out site remains very dry <br /> PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br /> The Refuse pile is reclaimed and continues to exhibit good vegetative cover throughout the pile. No gullying or <br /> bare areas were noted on the refuse pile. Vegetation is still dormant and has not begun to green up yet this spring. <br /> ROADS:Rule 4.03Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)11 El Surfacing and Maintenance 4.03.1(5)and(6)/4.03.2(5) and(6) <br /> The Mine access road is dry but well graded. The Refuse pile access road has been recently graded and ditches <br /> defined. No problems were identified with the access road. <br /> Efforts have been made to restrict unauthorized traffic across the loadout.
