March 22,2011 C-1984-065/Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine JRS
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE(cont.)-The remaining ditches all flow into the sediment pond. These ditches all
appeared to be stable and functioning as designed.
ROADS—Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and
Maintenance4.03.1(5) and(6)/4.03.2(5)and(6)Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
-The remaining haul road was stable at the time of the inspection. There was minor rutting of the road in places
due to use by a hunting outfitter during the fall and winter months. The rutting does not appear to be a problem at
this time. The road is beginning to fill in with vegetation in many places due to lack of use. No erosional
problems were noted on the road.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS—Rule 4.15,Rule 3:
-The site has been reclaimed and has been approved for a full Phase II Bond Release. The site is well vegetated,
although all of the vegetation was dormant at the time of the inspection. There is one area of concern that was
noted in inspection reports last year regarding weeds on the site. The entire site is infested with Russian and
Diffuse Knapweed. The site was sprayed for weeds last fall. In order to get the knapweed infestation under
control,CB Minerals will need to conduct concentrated weed spraying in both the spring and fall until the
problem is under control. The Division will also address this issue in the current Permit Renewal.
SIGNS AND MARKERS—Rule 4.02:
-The mine ID sign was in place but the current sign does not have the Division's address and telephone number
on it. Pursuant to Rule 4.30.2(3),please add the Division's name, address and phone number to the mine ID
sign. This will need to be done prior to the Division's next inspection.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: None
This completes the Division's 22 March 2011 inspection report for the Coal Ridge Mine.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 3 of 5
