COMMENTS
This was a complete inspection of the Coal ridge mine conducted by Jim Stark of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The Coal Ridge Mine is reclaimed and has gone through a Phase II Bond
Release on the entire site. On 9 March 2011 the Division received an application for Permit Renewal 06 (RN-06).
This application was deemed complete on 21 March 2011. The weather was cool,overcast and windy and the
ground was still mostly covered with snow.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
-All of the records are kept at the Garfield County Courthouse in Glenwood Springs(in the Clerk and Recorder's
Office on the second floor). The RN-06 application and information was missing from the compliance records. A
copy of this application will need to be added to the records immediately. Please see the records checklist at the
end of this inspection for more detailed information.
BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1;Approximate Original Contour
4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2,4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials
4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
-The entire Coal Ridge Mine area has been backfilled and regraded. The backfilled bench areas were all stable at
the time of the inspection. No cracking, slumping or settling of the backfill was noted. No erosional problems
were noted in the backfilled areas either.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE—Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,

-The remaining sediment pond was dry at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated
(although the vegetation is dormant)and stable. No erosional problems were noted on the embankment.
