PiAeda <br />FROM: David Bird A4 Director <br />SUBJECT: Geochemistry and Water Quality Review; Wildcat Mayday; DRMS File No. <br /> M-1981-185; Conversion Application CN-I <br />The following comments are provided in response to the Applicant's Conversion Application CN-1: <br />1) Exhibit D - Mining Plan; Rule 6.4.4(c), page 5 (note: mislabeled as 6.4.3(c)). With regards to <br />the proposed augmentation pond, in accordance with Rule 3.1.6 in reference to protection of <br />water quality, the applicant must add the augmentation pond to the surface water monitoring <br />program, to allow comparison of the water quality of the pond with the quality of water to <br />which the pond might be discharged. <br />2) Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Reclamation Effort 3: Closure and Final Reclamation, page 3. <br />The Applicant states that solid waste will be placed in the mine rock storage stope. Please <br />describe the solid waste that will be placed in that location. <br />3) Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 6.4.5(2)(c), item 2, page 6: The Applicant states that run <br />of mine rock will be placed underground or adjacent to existing benches, and will be stable <br />without additional compaction. Be advised that any material left outside in the elements for <br />extended periods will need to undergo geochemical testing. <br />4) Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 6.4.5(2)(c), item 2, page 6. The Applicant states that best <br />management practices will be put in place to prevent toxic or acid-forming materials migrating <br />offsite. Please describe the BMPs or state where in the application the information may be <br />found. <br />5) Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 3.1.7(2)(c)(ii), page 7. Please describe how ambient <br />ground water quality will be determined. <br />6) A. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan; Rule 3.1.7(6), page 10. The Applicant must specifically state <br />where the points of compliance (POC) will be for surface water.
