If construction activities expose an underground pipe, it will
be examined and if corrosion or deterioration is identified, corrective action will be taken
Table 18.1: Buried Piping Protection
Building or Area Name Material of Construction Protection Method
Diesel Generator AST steel Induced Rectifer System
18.2 Terminal Connections [112.8(d)(2)]
Out-of-service pipelines are evacuated and blank-flanged.
18.3 Pipe Supports [112.8(d)(3)]
Pipe systems are adequately supported. Pipe supports are designed to minimize abrasion
and corrosion and allow for expansion and contraction.
18.4 Inspections [112.8(d)(4)]
Visual observations of valves, pipelines and pipe supports are made throughout the day by
operations personnel. Aboveground pipelines and valves are also examined during the
monthly assessment.
