The
6NM was snow covered with no water or ice evident. Ponds B, C,D,E,F,and G were snow covered and frozen
at the time of the inspection. Pond D was discharging at the time of the inspection. All pond embankments were
snow-covered with no problems noted.
Ditches and culverts throughout the mine site were snow-covered at the time of the inspection. No problems were
noted with the exception of the following:
-The "Panama Canal"channel on the east end of the ROM Stockpile was in the process of cleaning at the time of
the inspection. Non-coal waste and cleaned out material should be removed from the channel to ensure
functionality of the ditch.
-The sump located south of the railroad tracks and south of Pond B has neared capacity in terms of sediment.
This sump should be cleaned when dryer conditions dictate to ensure adequate freeboard is maintained.
-The sump located northeast of Pond B and south of the Pond B access road has neared capacity in terms of
sediment. This sump should be cleaned when dryer conditions dictate to ensure adequate freeboard is maintained.
The roadside ditch along the Truck Loadout access road and into the Pond B access road has filled in with material
and the runoff has cut through the roadside berm on the northwest side of the Truck loadout Access Road. This
down-cutting has generated gully erosion which flows down hill and directly into the three 42"culverts in which
Foidel Creek is located. The eroded gully channel is —18"wide and 18"deep at the most extreme location.
