Michael S. Savage
January 5, 2006
Tasks 38, 39, and 41- These tasks remain obligations of the permittee
as they were not absorbed by the gravel pit (Amendment AM-01 of the
gravel permit was withdrawn). The reclamation tasks remaining for the
gravel pit are shown in the enclosed gravel pit inspection report and cost
estimate. The coal mine draft estimate includes Task 38 (hauling
residual topsoil from stockpiles #4 and #7 into the gravel pit area) only
to account for removing the hills of topsoil in order to achieve
approximate original contour. The gravel pit's approved reclamation
plan may need approval of a revision before that topsoil can be placed
on the gravel pit's recently reclaimed lands. Discing of stockpiles #3,
#7, and #8 (Task 39) is assumed to be needed for the same reason that
discing is required for stockpile #2 (page 5-36 of the reclamation plan).
Page 3
Please call me if you have further questions or would like a meeting to discuss the draft
estimate.
Sincerely,
%'", /< r4
Tom Kaldenbach
cc: Dan Hernandez
