• 1. Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) -gaffe animal and raptor
distribution, big game critical areas and population trends,
threatened and endangered species sightings, i~artance of
project area to sport hunting, etc.
2. Peabody Coal Company - wildlife data submitted in support of
mine permits near the study area.
3. Colorado State University (CSU), University of Wyoming (UW),
Departments of Zoology and Wildlife Management - wildlife informa-
tion for the azea gathered in support of theses, dissertations,
or other University research.
4. In-house library - a considerable wlume of both published and
unpublished ecological information for western Colorado has been
amassed as a result of ors inwlvement in large-scale ecological
baseline studies >n the area.
• In addition, biologists working for state and federal agencies and private
industry in the azea were intervie„red to determine the availability
of site-specific ecological information.
The existing, site-specific wildlife information was reviewed for its
relevance in describing baseline wildlife conditions for the project
area. Pertinent wildlife data were utilized to the maximum degree to
awid duplication of effort in the present baseline program and to
supplement observations and data gathered on-site during the course of
field studies. Data gathered over a period of yeazs aze particulazly
important in developing predictions of population dynamics and seasonal
patterns of distributicm of ia~ortant biota. Such data aze combined
with infonmation gathered during the study to provide the most accurate
possible description of baseline wildlife conditions for the project site.
u
-3-
