•
5RT139.61
Form: The specimen is a tertiary flake fragment,
irregular in outline with a slight bi-convex
cross-section. The broken surface exhibits
a hinge fracture. Cultural alteration occurs
on the two intact lateral margins. These
margins converge forming a prominent pro-
tuberance.
Material: White chert with grey bands
Dimensions: 1.96 cm. long x 1.63 cm. wide x .62 cm. thick
Retouch: Steep retouch occurs bilaterally and uni-
facially.
Functional
Interpretation: The retouch occurs only on the dorsal face
of the two intact lateral margins. These
converging margins are accentuated by the
retouch modification. Extensive, unifacial,
step fractured wear patterns indicate utili-
zation in a scraping capacity.
•
SRT139.63
Form: The specimen is a tertiary flake fragment,
irregular in shape and cross-section.
One edge exhibits a shallow hinge fracture.
Material: Gray chert.
Dimensions: 2.02 cm long x 1.71 cm wide x .63 c[n thick
Retouch: Steep edge retouch occurs along the two
intact lateral edges of the dorsal face.
Functional
Interpretation: Retouched edges are associated with a
profusion of step fractures and extensive
edge rounding. Wear appears indicative
of a scraping activity.
•
41
