9.4 acres of mix #3 and winter wheat were applied at 22.5 PLS/ac and 70 Ibs/ac
respectively were completed north of BB road (Lloyd).
14.2 acres winter wheat on the future irrigated pasture land north of BB road was
applied at 70 Ibs/ac (Lloyd). •
A total of 31.8 acres was planted to temporary cover crops, not including stockpiles, ponds
and ditches. The 31.8 acres is noted on Exhibit 2010-4.
New Field Seeding and Interseeding
Approximately 3.1 acres was seeded in 2010. This occurred on the Benson west property
located north of BB & east of 27 roads and is depicted in Exhibit 2010-4. Interseeding was
not performed during 2010. Approximately 0.6 acres was disked and replanted in the
reference area due to invasive grass specie (quackgrass). This small section was
sprayed, disked, and replanted with Mix #5 and oats of cover. It is not considered part of
the permit area therefore not listed as part of the reclamation but as an update for the
reference area.
Revegetated Land Fertilizer Rates and Pasture Yields
Fertilizer was applied to the 6.4 acre Garvey area by the landowner on the NH1 at a rate of
250lb/acre. Fertilizer was not applied on the NH2 property. NH1 and NH2 fields are
depicted on Exhibits 2010-1 and 2010-9 respectively. No soil samples were taken for
fertilization requirements. NH2 first cut yields varied from 1,361 lb/acre to 3,427 lb/acre
are shown in Exhibit 2010-11. New Horizon Mine did not harvest in the NH1 area.
Weed and Pest Control Activities
Noxious weed control in 2010 consisted of several applications. Target species for weeds •
were Knapweed(s), Thistle(s), White Top, Curly Cup Gum Weed, Russian-olive, saltceder,
burdock, mullein, halogeton, and Western whorled milkweed. Spot spraying was
completed at NH2, see Exhibit 2010-5. The treated sites were small and random in nature;
too small to accurately depict on the map, however, the general areas are depicted.
Western Fuels Colorado personnel and BackCountry Vegetation Management, Colorado
License # 11410, of Norwood, CO, treated noxious weeds. Various herbicides were
applied at the manufacture specified rates. Surfactant and a marking dye were used with
the herbicides to maximize spray effectiveness. Incidental spraying of nuisance weeds was
also performed in many of the same areas.
The pest control program was not active this year. With some rare exceptions there were
few prairie dogs noted in the NH2 area. Exhibit 2010-14 would normally note approximate
boundaries, however since the program was not employed this Exhibit will be removed till
this program is reactivated.
Label requirements, recommendations, and conditions were followed for all chemicals
used in the weed and pest management programs.
Acres in Long-Term Mining or Reclamation Facilities
As shown in Exhibit 2010-13, 89.3 acres are currently held in long-term mining or
reclamation facilities. .
F:\Eng\DATA\Word\Ann Reclaim Report\2010\2010RECRPT.doc
