6. Noxious weeds are not widespread on the permitted area, but monitoring and possible future treatments
may be needed, so a small weed control task was also included.
Please review the reclamation costs in the packet and contact me promptly if you notice any errors or omissions.
The existing required bond amount is $397,142 which is posted in the form of a corporate surety. The new total
required bond amount reflected in the enclosed recalculation is much lower, but the bond is not automatically
reduced simply by this letter. You must initiate the bond reduction by requesting it from this office. Please see
Hard Rock/Metals Rules 4.14 and 4.17 for the procedures that must be followed.
I will contact you later in 2011 to schedule an inspection of the site to check the effectiveness of the noxious weed
control program, the progress of the revegetation efforts, and the condition of the recent reclamation earthwork.
Thank you for the diligence during the process of revising the reclamation plan. Please contact me if you have
any questions. I can be reached at the Division's Durango field office: 691 CR 233, Room A-2, Durango, CO
81301; telephone 970-247-5193.
Sincerely,
Vti
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Encl: 3/8/11 Bond recalculation sheets.
Ec(w/o encl): Steve Shuey, DBMS, Grand Junction
(c:\l 1-03 docs\mesita tr2 appr&fw/rco)
