Scope of Work
18L Air Compressor Building Extension
40 Detailed Scope of Work:
The scope of work to be completed by the contractor includes:
1. Excavate for and Pour Concrete Piers and Slabs:
Refer to Figures 1 and Figure 2 — 18L Layout for exact site locations. Refer to Exhibits 1, 3 and 4 for
the concrete designs. Concrete work includes an 8" (min.) base slab with outside dimensions of 54'-
10" x 24', to be poured around the existing 48' x 8' concrete slab for the air compressors, reinforced
with #5 @ 12" each way, centered in the slab thickness, with fourteen 12" diameter bearing piers set a
minimum of 6' into bedrock (about 20' total for each pier) reinforced with two #5 verticals. Refer to
attached soils report from Northwest Colorado Consultants and the pdf copy of the 18 Left Pad and
Pits Cut & Fill drawing for approximate drilling depths.
At least 2' of existing soils must be sub - excavated and moisture conditioned to a minimum of 1% over
the optimum moisture content, at each pad. These wetted clays are then to be replaced in the over -
excavated area in 12" lifts and compacted to 85% of the maximum standard Proctor. These clays must
not be over - compacted as it is believed this process should substantially reduce the swelling potential
of the clays.
• The top of concrete for the pad extension shall match the top of concrete for the existing 48' x 8' air
compressor pad and the top of concrete for the existing MCC building. The additional concrete for the
fourteen piers approximates 8.1 YD and the additional concrete for the pad extension approximates 23
YD 3 .
All concrete is to be poured to a minimum 28 day compressive strength of 3000psi, Type 1. All
reinforcing bars will be Grade 60 and shall conform to ASTM Specifications A615 -79. Contractor
shall provide for early set concrete and covering of the piers and slab with sufficient heating blankets
to keep the concrete warm.
After the concrete is completed and the building is erected, the contractor shall return the ground
surface to its pre- construction condition with gravels. Final grade shall match current and existing
grade around the MCC building.
2. Air Compressor BuildinE Extension Construction:
Refer to the attached Exhibits 1 through 7. A 54' -10" by 24' steel building extension to enclose the air
compressors shall be procured and erected on the poured foundation extension at 18L. The building
shall be attached to the existing MCC building (refer to attached CECO building package) and shall
have a southern facing sloped roof 12' to 11' with three each, 10' wide by 9' tall, mechanical roll up
• doors on the southern side. The building shall also include a 36" man door on the east wall, a 36" man
door on the north wall leading from the southwest corner of the existing MCC building, a _ x _
18 left Air Compressor Building Extension Scope of Work 112310.doc Page 3 11/23/10
