Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 11, 2008, an application to renew an <br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Carbon Junction Mine was considered complete for the <br />purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and <br />the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Oakridge Energy, Inc. proposes to continue surface coal reclamation operations on land located approximately 2 miles <br />southeast of Durango, Colorado. No increase in mined area or surface area are proposed for this inactive mine. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: Portions of Section 33, T34 1/2N, R9W; Portions of Section 33, T35N, <br />R9W; Portions of Section 4, T34N, R9W. This tract of land is shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of <br />Durango East and Loma Linda. <br />In accordance with the May 1991 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our agencies, we must have your <br />concurrence in order to approve this proposal. We are required to make a finding that "the proposed operations will <br />not adversely affect any publicly owned park or place listed on or those places eligible for listing, as determined by <br />the SHPO, on the National Register of Historic Places, unless approved jointly by the Board and the Federal, State, or <br />local agency with jurisdiction over the park or place." Therefore, we request that you submit comments regarding <br />your concurrence with, concerns with, or objections to this proposal. In order that we may comply with regulatory <br />time frames, we request that comments be submitted within thirty (30) days of this letter. Please refer to the MOU <br />when undertaking your review. <br />A copy of the permit renewal application is available for public inspection at the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, <br />1060 E Second Ave, Durango, CO 81301 and at the Division office, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567.
