Mr. Liesveld
Page 1 3
February 17, 2011
12. Please provide a description of the configuration of the site upon completion of reclamation.
The description shall include the final dimensions of the quarry rooms, staging areas and spill
areas.
13. As required by Rule 6.3.4(e), please specify the reclamation treatment of any waste rock
dumps that may be left on site. In addition, specify the reclamation treatment of the quarry
rooms. The Division considers the quarry rooms to be underground mine openings and as
such they will require closure, which at a minimum would consist of a locked grate across
the entrances.
14. The Applicant has stated the site will be landscaped. Please describe how the site will be
landscaped and clarify if this includes establishment of vegetation.
15. In the attached report, Colorado Rose Red Granite Quarry Report, the Applicant has stated
the waste rock dump to the south of the quarry is shrinking as the material is removed. Please
specify the dimensions of this waste rock dump and indicate the last time waste rock was
placed in this area. The waste rock dump will need to be incorporated into the permit area
and the reclamation of this area will need to be addressed through the Reclamation Plan as
required by Rule 6.3.5(2)(f).
16. As required by Rule 6.3.4(2), the Applicant is required to provide an estimate of the actual
cost to reclaim the site based on what it would cost the State of Colorado using an
independent contractor to complete reclamation. Determine and specify the point during the
operation when the site has reached a point of maximum disturbance. The cost to reclaim the
site to the specifications of the Reclamation Plan at this point must be estimated. The
reclamation cost estimate shall include the cost to reclaim the waste rock dump as well as the
closure of the quarry rooms.
6.3.5 Exhibit E - Map
17. The Applicant has submitted several maps which did not contain labels. Please submit a
labeled Mining Plan Map. The Mining Plan Map shall include the following information:
a) Outline and label the permit boundaries. The Amendment Application indicates the
Applicant is adding 8.95 acres to the permit area; the total permitted acreage of 9.95 acres
must be depicted on the Mining Plan Map. Please see comments under Exhibit C, No. 8
and Exhibit D, No. 15.
b) Indicate the direction that construction material extraction will proceed.
c) Give the date the map was prepared.
d) Must be prepared and signed by a registered land surveyor, professional engineer, or
other qualified person.
