Savage and Savage
Memorandum
To: Donald W. MacDonald, Coors Energy Company
From: Michael Savage, Savage and Savage, Inc.
Date: April 26, 2010
Subject: Second Quarter 2010 Pest and Disease Inspection; Keenesburg Mine
File #: C-1981-028
On April 22, 2010, in conjunction with the SL-05 Phase 11 bond release inspection by
CDRMS, I conducted an inspection of the reclaimed and revegetated areas, as well as
adjacent operational areas at the Keenesburg Mine for evidence of plant pests, noxious
weeds, and plant diseases that could affect the re-established vegetation at the Keenesburg
Mine. The mine site had received 0.57 inches of precipitation from recent rains, and soil
column moisture was evident throughout the mine site.
Selected operational, reclaimed, and revegetated areas of the mine were inspected by
pedestrian means, including Areas 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 19, 23, 29, and 31P. The
dugout area, sediment pond, topsand piles, the B Pit bottom and side slopes and
undisturbed areas to the west of B Pit and southwest of the former A Pit were also
inspected for any potential problem areas.
I did not identify any disease conditions at any of the operational, reclaimed, or
revegetated areas of the mine site. I did not identify any plant pests which had affected the
growth of the vegetation during the growing season. No areas which experienced any
infestation or blight were found during the inspection. No patches of noxious weed
species were observed, nor were any areas observed where weeds, plant pests, or disease
showed a deleterious effect to the live vegetation.
C: Keenesburg Pest and Disease Inspection File
Danny Kipp, Keenesburg Mine
•
-25-
