Savage and Savage
Memorandum
To: Donald W. MacDonald, Coors Energy Company
From: Michael Savage, Savage and Savage, Inc.
Date: February 22, 2010
Subject: First Quarter 2010 Pest and Disease Inspection; Keenesburg Mine
File #: C-1981-028
On February 18, 2010, I conducted an inspection of the reclaimed and revegetated areas,
as well as adjacent operational areas at the Keenesburg Mine for evidence of plant pests,
noxious weeds, and plant diseases that could affect the re-established vegetation at the
Keenesburg Mine. While the mine site has received winter snow this season, there was no
standing snow on the ground surface, except in very isolated pockets. Near surface soil
moisture was evident throughout the mine site.
Selected operational, reclaimed, and revegetated areas of the mine were inspected by
pedestrian and vehicle means, including Areas 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17,
18, 20, 21, 22, 25, 29, 30, and 31P. The dugout area, sediment pond bottom and side
slopes, the small cottonwood grove, topsand piles, the B Pit bottom and side slopes, long-
term overburden storage area, and periphery of the shop and office were also visually
inspected from the vehicle for any potential problem areas.
I did not identify any disease conditions at any of the operational, reclaimed, or
revegetated areas of the mine site. I did not identify any plant pests which had affected the
growth of the vegetation during the growing season. No areas which experienced any
infestation or blight were found during the inspection. No patches of noxious weed
species were observed, nor were any areas observed where weeds, plant pests, or disease
showed a deleterious effect to the live vegetation.
C: Keenesburg Pest and Disease Inspection File
Danny Kipp, Keenesburg Mine
•
-24-
