The purpose of the inspection was to evaluate the on-the-ground
condition with respect to Trapper Mine's mining and environmental protection activities. Graham Roberts of TMI
accompanied the inspection in the field.
The weather was partly cloudy. The ground was covered with snow at all areas except active roads and active
mining areas.
AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION—Rule 4.17:
Roads and other activities were not a source of fugitive dust during the inspection.
EXCESS SPOIL and DEVELOPMENT WASTE—Rule 4.09:
At the K Ridge, the Molly Brown dragline was idle. A truck was dumping a load of spoil. The K Ridge and
Horse Gulch Fill were found to be in compliance with the permit.
EXPLOSIVES—Rule 4.08:
Near the south end of the F Pit,a blasting crew was preparing to shoot interburden.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE-Rule 4.05:
Three ponds were inspected:No Name#5R, Impoundment H, and the Industrial Waste Pond. No problems were
identified with any of them. Discharge from No Name#5R Pond was clear. There was no discharge from
Impoundment H. The Industrial Waste Pond was nearly full during the inspection, however the discharge was not
observed due to weather conditions(the pond discharges into a small wetland area that was covered with snow).
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
At the K Strike Pit, a track hoe was loading trucks with spoil to be hauled to K Ridge.
At the F Pit,both the Queen Anne dragline and the Baby Doe dragline were casting spoil to the west end of the pit.
The mine was found to be in general compliance with the permit.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 7
