Yoast Mine SL-3 February 2011
Phase 11 Bond Release Request
• block and extended reference areas and random sample point locations are shown on Maps 1
and 2 of the 2010 vegetation monitoring report.
Table 1 provides a summary of the cover attributes for the Phase II bond release block and the
four native types in the extended reference area. Table 1 also provides the allowable
herbaceous cover values used in the success evaluations for cover.
The derivation of total allowable herbaceous cover for the reclaimed and reference areas is
included in the vegetation evaluation report for the Phase II bond release block is included in
Attachment E.
The approved cover success standard for the Yoast mine is 90 percent of the allowable all hit
herbaceous cover determined from adjusting the total all hit cover, as described above, and
then weight averaging the values (based on relative community composition) for the aspen,
mountain brush, sagebrush and steep mountain brush types in the extended reference area.
The allowable all hit herbaceous cover values for the four native vegetation types in the
extended reference area and the Phase II bond release block are shown in Table 1.
Table 1. The Phase II bond release
block allowable all hit herbaceous cover value for demonstrating success is 42.97.
• Sample adequacy was met for the bond release blocks and reference area sampling. The
sampling results for total all hit cover and allowable all hit herbaceous cover are summarized
below in Tables 2 and 3.
5
