areas which have been used for storage or transportation, and
• in order to provide maximum farm acreage , such replacement will
occur as soon as mining operations have ceased. Fringe areas
around the gravel pit which are not suitable for agricultural
operations will be seeded with grasses as nearly like the
existing range grass as possible .
B. Comparison with Other Land Uses in the Area
Land to the south of Applicant ' s lands and above the
South Platte River is all farm land. Land along Antelope
Draw north of Applicant' s lands is used for farming. Land
surrounding Applicant 's lands other than those described are
all rangeland . Therefore, the reclamation plan proposed by
Applicant is in keeping with the use of the surrounding area .
C. Implementation of the Reclamation Plan
Reclamation of the affected lands by Applicant will be on
a continuing basis so that the lands available for farming may
be converted to irrigated agriculture and the lands surrounding
the gravel pits will be graded in order to comply with the
applicable requirements of the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
Grading of lands for agricultural purposes shall be accomplished
so that farming operations may be commenced and continued on
said lands as soon as feasible . Grading will allow the use of
farm machinery and will permit irrigation of the land to be
farmed. Sloping of the areas surrounding the gravel pits is
anticipated to be at a ratio no steeper than 3 : 1. There are
no toxic or acid-forming materials present in the affected
lands nor used in the mining operation. There are no drill
holes , shafts or adits , and it- is not anticipated that any
of the gravel pits will be used for swimming areas .
The effect of the mining operations on water in the area
is more fully described in Exhibit G. There has not been nor
will there be any dredging operations necessitating federal
or Colorado dredge and fill permits and it is not anticipated
that any water quality laws and regulations , either Federal
or State , will be violated in the operation of Applicant' s
gravel pits . The three dams on Applicant ' s land were con-
structed in order to provide Applidant with a means of using
the water in his agricultural operations . None of the water
impounded in said dams is used in the gravel operation.
