lk
2005 Raw Water Pipeline Replacement
This linear site is well established and reaching maturity. Herbaceous vegetation exceeds
that of adjacent sites. Weed problems exist only for isolated portions with adjacent weed
problems on undisturbed lands. Impacts from sheep trailing are notable over much of the
site.
2008 Drill Site Reclamation
These sites continue to mature from last season. Annual weeds (cheatgrass, Russian thistle)
were not as dominant this season but still exerting a substantial influence.
Perennial vegetation continued to mature in an expected progression. The prior year's weed
problem hasn't appeared to greatly impact perennial establishment except in term of
diversity. Shrubs seem to have been affected the most.
Erosion/sedimentation was not an issue on any of the sites. The surface roughness created
during reclamation adequately retained precipitation and sediment on the sites.
Site SC -TG53 continues to fall behind to other sites in terms of perennial establishment.
Last year's reseeding has resulted in a more notable abundance of seedlings
2009 Drill Site Reclamation
These sites were typical of what should be expected for the first growing season. Annual
weeds (cheatgrass, Russian thistle) were the primary problem on the sites. Such weed
problems are common and expected for early stage reclamation.
Erosion/sedimentation was not an issue on any of the sites. The surface roughness created
during reclamation adequately retained precipitation and sediment on the sites.
Other Observations
Concerns were previously expressed over the potential for forage kochia spreading and
becoming more aggressive than desired. Observations in 2010 indicate that this species is
behaving well. It is showing little signs of spreading beyond the intended sites and does not
