The Division realizes that this determination may be difficult to accept. However, it is far more
complicated than just a building and putting some equipment in it. If CRG Mining wishes to
move forward with the project it must submit an amendment to the permit, with the
appropriate fee for the installation of the mill and address all permitting issues required.
The Division also notes two outstanding problems from inspections in 2006 and again in 2007
which appear to have not been addressed. According to the records there is no evidence a
mine permit sign being posted as required and revegetation of disturbances around the portal
cave in area. While the sign issue is minor, revegetation is necessary to protect soils and
prevent erosion. The bigger issue may be failure to address them. If CRG Mining has addressed
these issues please submit the documentation to the Division so that the matter can be closed.
If those issues are not addressed when the Division inspects this spring staff may change the
issues from a problem, to a failure to comply, and schedule the matter for a board hearing.
If you need additional information please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, or by telephone no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
'?)
