January 20, 2011 C-1996-083/Bowie No. 2 Mine JJD <br />The gob pile haul road was clear of, snow. About two thirds of the gob pile was covered in snow. The <br />operator was working on the east half of the gob pile. The upland diversion ditch was snow covered but no <br />problems were noted. There appeared to be !positive drainage on the pile. Also, the outslopes of the pile appeared <br />to be stable. <br />The gob pile no. 3 area was covered in snow. No refuse has been placed there yet. <br />ROADS - Rule 4.030 OConstruction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) 11 11Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) 00 Surfacing and <br />Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) ? []Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />The paved main haul road was dryand passable. The gob pile haul road was clear of snow and passable as <br />well. The access road leading from the D-seam portal bench up to the utility bench was snow covered but the road <br />had been recently traveled. <br />SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12: <br />All of the highwalls appeared to bei stable. There were no signs of instability with any of the bench fill <br />outslopes either. The rock catchment berm was in place but no recent rock falls were observed behind the <br />catchment berm. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES -Rule 4.04: <br />There were no problems with any of the coal handing structures and support buildings at the mine site and <br />loadout. There was very little coal that was stockpiled at the D-seam portal bench stockpile area and at the main <br />coal stockpile area. Material storage areas 7ere well organized. There were no Bowie railcars at the loadout <br />although there were others at the adjacent Terror Creek Loadout. <br />TOPSOIL - Rule 4.060 []Removal 4.06.2;1 Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; <br />Redistribution 4.06.4: j <br />The main topsoil stockpile was covered in snow, except for the south side. There were no indications of <br />erosional gullying or slope instability with the stockpile. The topsoil stockpiles along the gob pile haul road were <br />mostly clear of snow and showed no signs 'of erosional problems. The topsoil stockpile at gob pile no. 3 was <br />covered in snow.
