Section 3.1.7(8) of the construction materials rule states that to achieve Release of
Reclamation Liability "An operator shall demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the Office,
that reclamation has been achieved so that existing and reasonably potential future uses
of groundwater are protected." To this end, the Division believes that further
characterization of the aquifer and current uses of groundwater in the area would be
beneficial.
• Please determine if this site is located in a classified or unclassified
groundwater area. This may have a significant impact on the groundwater
standards that would be applied to the site.
• What are the uses of the aquifer in the surrounding area?
• Are there any permitted wells within %2 mile of the site? In particular,
drinking water or irrigation wells. If so, these wells should be plotted on a
map of the area which also shows the permit boundary, CKD disposal
areas and measured groundwater flow direction.
• How are nearby wells, if present, constructed/screened? Is static water
level data available? This information may be presented on the map
previously referred to, or on a separate figure.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (303) 866-3567 x8140.
Sincerely,
Eric Scott
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Tony Waldron, Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
