January 20, 2011 C-1981-010/Trapper Mine RDZ
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
At the K Dip Pit, the Le Tourneau loader was loading 240-ton Komatsu trucks with spoil to be hauled to K Ridge.
At the F Pit, the Baby Doe dragline was moving spoil near the south end of the pit. Coal was being excavated and
loaded into trucks. The Queen Anne dragline was not in operation at the time of the inspection.
At D Pit and the ash pit, no activity was observed.
The mine was found to be in general compliance with the permit.
ROADS - Rule 4.03:
Many roads were observed during the inspection, including the Life-of-Mine Road, the Middle Z Road, the Z3
Road, the Mid Ash Road, and the D Pit Road. Most of the roadside ditches contained several inches of snow, but
the roads were stable and were functioning as permitted at the time of the inspection. At the Ash Pit, south
(above) the Mid Ash Road, the road was very muddy; however, this road is not considered a haul road.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Due to snow conditions, the ground was not visible at some locations during the inspection. On the areas that
were visible, no problems such as gullies on reclaimed areas were observed.
SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04:
No problems were observed at the East Panel Ready Line or at the shop.
SIGNS AND MARKERS - Rule 4.02:
The mine ID and blasting signs at the main mine entrance and at the entrance near the power plant were found to
be in compliance.
TOPSOIL - Rule 4.06:
No topsoil removal or stockpiling activities were observed during the inspection.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
Graham Roberts provided updates of pages 2-462c through 2-462e.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 3 of 5
